The Investment Management & Quantitative Finance graduate certificate* program offered by UMass Boston will provide you with a competitive advantage in the business of investment analysis and wealth management. The curriculum is designed to teach core quantitative methods and data analytic skills necessary to succeed in the current investment and wealth management profession.

*Course credit from a certificate will count toward a graduate degree should you choose to continue.

In this program, you will:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of investment management, financial markets, and quantitative methods
  • Build a strong foundation in financial theory and empirical research
  • Learn how to analyze financial data using statistical and computational methods
  • Develop skills in investment strategy development, portfolio management, risk management, and asset valuation

Analyze financial data, create models, and make recommendations to management on important decisions as a financial analyst. Take on the responsibility of advising companies and governments on mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, and other large financial transactions as an investment banker. Applicants must meet general graduate admission requirements in addition to the following program-specific requirements:

  • Statement of intent essay: This statement is your opportunity to show the graduate admissions committee why you wish to pursue graduate study, as well as your specific interest and goals.

Deadlines: June 1 for fall

Application Fee: The nonrefundable application fee is $75. UMass Boston alumni and current students that plan to complete degree requirements prior to graduate enrollment can submit the application without paying the application fee.

Program Requirements

Complete 15 credits from five courses including two required courses and three electives.

Prerequisite: MBA AF 620 must be completed or waived prior to enrollment in the program.
