Cost and Aid for International Students

- International students are considered out-of-state students.
- This total is based on full-time attendance, and includes both tuition and basic mandatory fees, as well as the Student Activities and Technology fees.
- Depending on the college that admits you, additional mandatory fees may apply, as well.
- All international students are required to pay the UMass Boston Health Insurance fee.
- Other additional costs include room and board, books and supplies, and personal or living expenses. These amounts will, of course, vary depending upon your personal choices and preferences and course selection. They are not included in Bursar's totals.
Cost and Aid for International Students
In general, aid is limited for international students. Federal and state grants are not available to international students. Merit Scholarships are not available to international students who are incoming first-years; however, a limited number may be available for continuing students, based on competitive academic performance and renewable annually.
