Accelerated Nursing Program

Application Requirements

  • Official college transcripts from all institutions attended 
    • Bachelor’s degree conferred by application deadline*
      • *Fall applicants with a May graduation date are welcome to apply. Degree conferral must be received by June 1st. All prerequisites must still be completed by the deadline.
    • CED or WES evaluation for foreign coursework
  • $60 application fee
  • Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) scores are optional
    • If provided, exam results will be included in the application review process
    • If submitting TEAS scores, we recommend a 75 or higher on each section
    • We will accept all of the following TEAS: TEAS at PSI, TEAS at ATI, Remote proctored TEAS
  • Two Short Essays

    • 250-Word Essay: UMass Boston’s Accelerated Nursing program is designed to blend high quality clinical experiences with online didactic learning. Successful students must be flexible, adaptable, and self-directed. Please describe a time when you independently learned a complex task. What was the task? What resources did you utilize to learn it? What did you learn about yourself during this process?
  • Two Recommendation Letters
  • Accelerated Nursing Prerequisite Form - will be made available in Beacon Gateway upon application submission

Admission Criteria

  • Required cumulative GPA of 3.0 (includes all college-level institutions attended)
  • Required prerequisite GPA of 3.3

Prerequisite Courses 

  • The following courses must be a C or higher: 
    • Intro Sociology or Intro Psychology (3 credits)
    • Statistics (3 credits)
  • The following courses must be a C+ or higher:
    • Human Growth & Development (3 credits)
    • Nutrition (3 credits)
  • The following courses must be a C+ or higher, include a lab, and be completed within the last 10 years: 
    • Anatomy & Physiology I (4 credits)
    • Anatomy & Physiology II (4 credits)
    • Microbiology (4 credits)
